Calculate your path to Financial Independence, Retire Early (FIRE) based on your income, expenses, and investment returns
What is FIRE?
FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) is a movement focused on extreme savings and investment to allow retirement much earlier than traditional retirement plans. The goal is to accumulate enough assets to live off investment returns without needing employment income.
The 4% Rule
The traditional FIRE approach uses the 4% withdrawal rate, meaning you need 25 times your annual expenses saved to maintain your lifestyle indefinitely. This is based on historical market performance and the Trinity Study.
FIRE Variations
Lean FIRE
Minimal expenses, lower target amount needed for financial independence.
Fat FIRE
Higher expenses and lifestyle, requiring a larger target amount.
Coast FIRE
Enough saved that compound growth will reach FIRE by traditional retirement age.
